LATEST NEWS

I was delighted that one of two drawings that I submitted to the UK Colour Pencil Society Annual Exhibition 2024 was selected for exhibition. It was ‘My little rays of sunshine’ which I drew from a photograph that I took of my children (then 2, 4 and 6 years old) 42 years ago with my old Zenit E camera. Please ignore the watermark as it is not on the original drawing.

I was also surprised but delighted to learn that two of my artworks have been awarded a Special Merit Award in the Art and Color 365 Magazine’s 2024 Annual Artist’s Choice Competition. Thousands of artists from around the word submitted up to three artworks and I was amazed that two out of three of my submissions gained awards in the very next category after the first, second and third prizes.

Thank you to the judges for their hard work and congratulations to all the winners.

And finally thanks to Alan Benson for the wonderful photographs he allows me to draw from.

Also in 2024, whilst taking a break from commissions, I completed a drawing I have wanted to do for some time. It’s a superb silverback gorilla and I hope you like my rendition of him.

RECENT NEWS – Also whilst taking little breaks from commissions I have recently completed three drawings from Alan Benson’s wonderful wildlife photographs (https://m.facebook.com/alan.benson.526/). A delightlfully inquisitive red squirrel, a perfectly captured image of two loving swans and an acrobatic Bearded Reedling. They are all available now as limited edition signed prints. I am also giving £10 to the DEC Earthquake Appeal for every three prints sold for a limited period.

OLDER NEWS – I have received the wonderful news that I have won the top drawing prize in the Oexmann Art Competition with ‘One Day’, the drawing I did in one day of Greta Thunberg. The exhibition of all Wiltshire born or resident artists was held in the Wiltshire Museum in Devizes. 

MORE NEWS – I have been published!! My highland cow drawing was featured in the July 2022 issue of Artists and Illustrators magazine. Moooooooove over Manet ha ha!

After drawing five ‘free portraits for NHS Heroes’ during the pandemic, I have had the honour and privilege of drawing an amazing little boy. He truly is a hero and this is his story:
Rory Holloran would have been five years old on 26th August 2020. He spent time in John Radcliffe Hospital Oxfordshire, GWH Swindon and his last months in Charlton Farm Children’s Hospice in Bristol where he sadly passed shortly before his fifth birthday. He had wonderfully supportive NHS staff visiting daily. He amazingly fought his battle against Leukaemia so so bravely for two and a half years but in the end Rory lost his fight and passed due to many viruses and a massive breakdown of antibodies.
Thank you so so much everyone who donated to ‘NHS Charities Together’ in Rory’s memory. The Virginmoneygiving page is now closed.
